Charles Frederick Kaufmann, age 87, of Pawleys Island died Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at The Lakes at Litchfield.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late Charles and E. Lenore Kaufmann.
Charles was in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
During WWII he served in the 79th Construction Battalion in the Aleutians.
After 30 years in Public School Education, he retired as School Principal in 1980.
He then owned and operated an Antique Shop in Carversville, PA. Charles traveled extensively with his wife, Lenore to every continent except Arctic and An arctic, including four months around the world.
He served as a volunteer at Brookgreen Gardens for 11 years and Georgetown Chamber Visitors Center for 10 years.
His residence of 42 years was in Carversville, PA until moving to SC in 1995.
Surviving is his wife, Lenore Kaufmann of Pawleys Island.
Services will be private.

James Matthews, Sr.
Mr. James Matthews, Sr., 82, 1671 Petigu Drive, Pawleys Island, SC, departed this life on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Ralph H. Johnson Veterans Hospital, Charleston, SC.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Sandy Island, SC with Rev. Karon Jackson, officiating.
Burial followed in the Church Cemetery under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Homes.

Mr. Matthews son of the late John Matthews and Lucille Herroitt Matthews Knox was born March 7, 1929 in New York City, he attended Georgetown County Schools, he was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Jessie C. Matthews, Pawleys Island, SC his children, James Matthews, Jr., Deborah M. Greggs, Pawleys Island, SC, Allen Matthews, Charlotte, NC, Linda Sharpe, Richmond, VA, Samuel Keith, Murrells Inlet, SC; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Estelle M. Brown, Baltimore, MD.
Archie Mills
Archie Lewis Mills, 65, died Saturday, April 9, 2010, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Mills was born in Conway on October 24, 1945, a son of the late Percy Edward Mills, Sr. and Thelma Grace Lewis Mills. He grew up in Georgetown and attended state and private schools. He was retired from retail sales and a former caretaker of Elmwood Cemetery. Mr. Mills was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Surviving are: a brother, P. Edward Mills, Jr. of Pawleys Island; three sisters, Nina M. Morris (Ted) and Inez M. McElveen, both of Georgetown and Martha Lee Bell of Johnsonville-Hemingway; a half-brother, Charles Kolb (Jane) of Summerville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 3 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, April 12, 2011, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Officiating was Pastor Arden Hallman.
Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
