Helen Casselman

Helen Crane Casselman, 66, of Pawleys Island died Thursday, April 21, 2911, at Georgetown  Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Casselman was born in Andrews on April 7, 1945, the daughter of the late Leroy Crane and Mildred Bryan Crane.
She grew up in Andrews and lived in Pawleys Island for many years. 
Mrs. Casselman was a contributor to many causes including cancer, lung, and heart associations.
She was a member of the Midway Fire Department volunteers and an avid NASCAR fan.  Mrs. Casselman was the widow of David Casselman.
Surviving are two daughters, Melinda Casselman and Eve Eggiman (Doug), both of Pawleys Island; her companion of 30 years, Stanley Thompson; and three grandchildren, Stephanie, Tiffany, and Victoria Eggiman.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning, April 23, 2011, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
Burial followed in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2011 at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.

Legare Hamilton, Jr.

Legare “Dee” Hamilton, Jr., 67, of Pawleys Island died Monday, April 18, 2011, at the Hospice Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Mr. Hamilton was born in Columbia on February 10, 1944, a son of the late Legare Hamilton and Mabel Effingwell Mercer Hamilton.
He grew up in Georgetown and graduated in 1962 from Winyah High School.
Mr. Hamilton attended the University of South Carolina.
He was a former Georgetown representative for New York Life and an independent insurance agent with The Dieter Company, and later worked as a sculpture preparator for Brookgreen Gardens.
Mr. Hamilton was a communicant of Holy Cross Faith Memorial Episcopal Church and was active in the Baskerville Community. 
He also volunteered for the Red Cross.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan Hamilton Smith (Noell) of Charleston and Melissa Hamilton Szymanski (Steve) of Beijing, China; a brother, Samuel M. Hamilton of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a sister, Molly Mercer of Pawleys Island; and four grandchildren, Sarah Legare Smith and Elizabeth Hamilton Smith, both of Charleston, and Katherine Legare Szymanski and Mary Mercer Szymanski, both of Beijing, China.
Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, April 21, 2011, at Holy Cross Faith Memorial Episcopal Church. 
Officiating was the Rev. Alex Barron and the Rev. Melissa Timmerman.
Inurnment took place prior to the service at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Churchyard.
A reception immediately followed the memorial service at the family beach house, “Slamming Doors,” at 149 Atlantic Ave. on Pawleys Island.
