A high speed chase in Georgetown County ended with blown tires and the arrest of two North Carolina resident charged with stealing the car they were driving.
At about 11 a.m. Sunday, deputies were sent to the Kangaroo Convenience Store located at Highway 17 Bypass and Pendergrass Avenue in Murrells Inlet because of a gas drive off.
The clerk on duty gave the deputies the description and license tag number of the vehicle which was spotted a short while later  near the Waccamaw Bridges heading into Georgetown, according to Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Carrie Cuthbertson.
“Central dispatch advised responding deputies that the vehicle was registered as stolen from North Carolina,” she said.
The vehicle failed to stop for the blue lights and led officers on a 20 minute pursuit from Georgetown to Andrews and back to Georgetown.
“As the vehicle entered back into the City of Georgetown, Georgetown City Police deployed spike strips disabling the suspect vehicle near Reservoir Street,” Cuthbertson said.
Arrested were the driver, Lynnwood Simmons, 26, of Eastwel, N.C., and Megan Fuller, 24, of Fayettville.
Simmons was charged with Failure to Stop for a Blue light, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Failure to pay for gasoline and Speeding 110/40.
Fuller was charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Simmons and Fuller are currently being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center.
